Commemoration of the 1551 Siege

"A play commemorating the 458th anniversary when Gozo had been attacked by the Ottomans. Some 5,000 persons forming the greater part of the Gozitan population had been captured and taken into slavery. This after the Gozitans had been forced to capitulate and open the doors of the Citadel because they had no means of defending themselves."

This event will be held on 26 th July, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, at the Citadel.

Wojtyla

"“WOJTYLA – God’s Clarion Call” is a two-hour live production of good oriġinal music, song, projections and dance entwined with a story which would make patrons remember the highlights of John Paul II’s life. The best gozitan talent will be show-cased in this musical, amongst them Jamie Camilleri who will be playing the title-role of John Paul II. Other characters will be interpreted by Maria Cassar, David Grech, Angelo Muscat, Ruth Portelli, Janelle Rapa, Antonella Rapa and Thomas Xerri, together with a 70-strong cast, including musicians, singers and dancers. The musical director is composer Antoine Mercieca whilst Saviour Cremona would be the artistic director of the show"

This event will be held on Saturday 9 th March, from 7.30 pm and Sunday 10 th March, from 2.30 pm, it will be held at the Don Bosco Oratory Theatre, Victoria.

The Last Supper

"Għaqda Drammatika Għajnsielem is also organizing a live reenactment of The Lord’s Supper where actors will portray Jesus sharing his final meal with his Apostles before his crucifixion. This activity will take place at Ta' Passi fields where the atmosphere and the natural surroundings including the animals, will take visitors back in time to experience The Last Supper. There will also be a live kitchen where traditional Passover food will be prepared. This activity will be held on Holy (Maundy) Thursday evening, 29th March 2018, from 8.30pm until 11.30pm and the following morning, Good Friday, 30th March 2018, from 9am until 12pm."
