At Fort St. Elmo, Malta, the Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy, in collaboration with the Department of Physics, Astronomical Society of Malta, Esplora and Heritage Malta, is organizing an observation event for the total lunar eclipse. Telescopes will be set up on site, although the eclipse itself shall be visible with the naked eye. People can also observe the planet Mars, which will be almost at opposition, at its closest to Earth since 2003. The event will be free, and everyone can attend.
